Our history

The Syrian Arab Association in the United Kingdom, founded in 1984, is one of the earliest organisations established by the Syrian diaspora in Britain. Based in London and structured as a non-profit, it has historically served as a social and cultural hub, bringing together Syrian professionals, families,
and successive generations to strengthen community ties and preserve shared heritage.

Following the outbreak of the Syrian war in 2011, the Association’s activities were suspended, reflecting the profound impact of the conflict on Syrians both at home and abroad. In December 2025, the Association was formally reinstated with the election of a new board, marking the beginning of a renewed chapter.

Today, the Syrian Arab Association is re-establishing itself as an inclusive, forward-looking platform dedicated to community engagement, cultural continuity, and connection among Syrians in the United Kingdom.
